Francine La Rubi

Francine La Rubi is a Spanish flamenco dancer, choreographer, producer and certified instructor through Centro De Arte Flamenco y Danza Española Amor De Dios in Madrid, has over 25 years of experience with flamenco dance. Her first steps in dance began at the age of 4, starting her studies of flamenco dance at the age of 9, with a professional debut as part of the dance company "Aires de España".

She studied with world renowned flamenco artists like Pastora Galvan, Belen Fernandez, Antonio Reyes, Manuel Reyes, María Magdalena, Ciro, Adrián Galia, Inmaculada Ortega and Joaquin Grilo among others. Maestro Cristobal Reyes granted her a scholarship as an incentive and recognition. She also studied with bailaora Mari Paz Lucena from Granada at her school Espacio Flamenco and at the Centro Autorizado De Danza Matilde Coral in Sevilla. 

At the same time joined Dance Studio Carmen Senra (silver medal to the merit of Fine Arts in Madrid) on where she studied Contemporary dance. She also studied Ballet at the private Sara Baras Studio with Dagmara Brown and Dania González from National Ballet of Cuba.

Simultaneously worked as a model for Elite Models agency in Europe and America, giving her a lot of experience working in front of cameras, her background also includes TV acting, singing, theater classes, classical piano (Verdi Institute) and abstract painting. She also studied Architecture and graduated as an Architect, Urban Planner and Landscaper. 

She was a guest artist in several TV shows in Spain, as well as a performer artist in several Flamenco “Tablaos” including El Junglar, Espacio Flamenco and as a company member with "Compañia Mari Paz Lucena. Invited to perform in TV shows such as "Noche de Fiesta" with Jose Luis Moreno's Ballet, TVE Spain channel; "Sorpresa Sorpresa" Antena 3 TV channel; "Inquietos" with bailaora Belén Fernández, TVE Spain channel, among others.

As a flamenco instructor taught classes in Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Guatemala, United States and other countries. And as a flamenco choreographer, instructor and producer worked at the Francine La Rubi Dance School and Dance Company, as well as “Noche de Andalucia” and “Stage Flamenco”. At the International festival “Danzamérica” in Cordoba (Argentina), participated as a juror and lecturer-driven seminar.

Contributed to the Flamenco project and documentary “Flamenco de Raiz” (Flamenco From The Roots) from the director Vicente Perez Herrero and Spanish TVE channel. She was also a columnist and collaborator of BAILAR Magazine (Brazil) and Flamenco Guide (Spain).

She participated as guest artist in The Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival at The Slocomb Auditorium in Momentos and as guest dancer and choreographer at the Extravaganza Show at the MATCH Theater Center in Houston, during this time she was living in the US and worked as a Flamenco dance instructor.

Currently Francine La Rubi is back in The Woodlands TX and restarted her passion as a Flamenco dancer and instructor, after a 2 year season in Spain connecting with her roots, heritage and Flamenco Art.
